Morning glory Ipomoea nil (= Pharbitis nil)

Tokyo Kokei Standard-6, TKS-6 Cotyledonary petiole and hypocotyl

Seedling 11 days after sowing. The hypocotyl is connected to the cotyledons by the cotyledonary petiole. There is a plumule at the top of the hypocotyls. As the plumule grows, the first leaf is extended. There are hardly any epidermal hairs on the cotyledonary petiole and the hypocotyl. (595-19 2001.10.29 photo by YY)
